All-season tires for the 20" wheels?
I posted this as part of another thread in "General", but thought I'd break out the wheel/tire part specifically for this forum.
With the SS, you get "stuck" with the 20" wheels and tires. I REALLY don't want them! I don't want to have to spend more than $350 EACH to replace them AND they're summer tires that are totally unsuitable for our weather 3 months a year. For the same reason, I'm going to skip the RS package if I go LT. Right now, there really are no good all-season 20" tires that fit these cars. Arrggggggghhhh! I think if there was a way to get the SS or an RS LT with a factory 18" or 19" wheel/tire package (with good all seasons, like the PZero Nero on the plain 2LT), I'd certainly jump on the SS. But since there isn't...it may be pretty much a deal breaker for me! Does anythone think (or know) if Pirelli is going to make a PZero Nero in a 20" to fit the SS/RS? (I'd happily take 4 x 245/45ZR20s ). Rob |

I had the yokohama's on my previous car, very impressive in snow and rain. Very much a step upwards from the factory michelins. And my wallet likes them too.

Has anyone researched snow tires? I'm thinking of getting a cheap set of rims and swapping them out during the winter.
Here is a good article about summer vs other tires. http://www.automedia.com/Summer_Tire...sm20080101ss/1 |

It means the rubber is only good in warm conditions. As it get colder the rubber sticks less to the asphalt and the traction gets worse.

Thanks for the info, I never knew that. So Itake it that when driving in the winter months be very careful, not that I plan on driving it that much but can't let it sit for 3 or 4 months

I live in Toronto.
I have a 1LT - non RS. I stayed away from the RS pacakage beacause I presumed 75% of the cost of RS is going to be the upgrade in tires. I really like some aftermarket rims. I can no use the 17 or 18" rims and tires all season - with no pblm. |

I know I've seen your post on this before. Still don't like the lack of options in the size, though. Those Yoko's look pretty good on paper and get some good reviews with Charger, 300 and Magnum drivers. Maybe they'll do for winter tires if something new doesn't come out before December! Thanks!
Hmmm...1SS is looking better with some tire options! Rob |

I believe 19 inch wheels will fit on the SS (don't take that as gospel. All I know is the Pedders guys said they wanted to do that) so a set of cheap 19 inch wheels for the winter could be useful.
