Do you think that if you used something like this that you could have done it without cutting the car? And instead of plexiglass, you could use a diffusing material.

there are a few different things i could do, but just about everything i have done is my own custom mod's. i have seen a company that make light door sills and they look cool, but i like coming up with my own ideas. i know not everyone agree's with me cutting into my car but thats ok. i have really personalized my car and there is not one, again, not one like it. . take a look at my signature links, most of the stuff is things that i totally make up myself. thank you for looking

I never said I didn't like your mod, I was just soliciting your opinion on a variant of your mod for us more squeamish Camaro owners.

Are the door sills critical to the car's structure?

i guess its possible. but i look at it this way, is the roof critical to the car's structure? well then dont buy a convertable, how about when gm cuts a hole in my roof for a sunroof. or this new company that make the sun roofs. to answer your question, from looking in the hole that i cut, i dont think so, of course im not an engineer, but i do know that its not as bad when they cut roof off

I thought the convertible had a reinforced underside. I think the rest of the roof is reinforced when you get a factory sunroof.

I was thinking more along the lines of body twist from the 426+ HP.

Absolutely true! The convertible is made stronger on the underside. Ans my guess is that the sills are actually a part of the stiffness of the car.

As everybody is saying, it looks amazing but you could have more body twist because of this mod. And hopefully the stresspoints will not appear as cracks!
