DSV ebrake shaft installation

Hey all. I recieved my order for DSVs leather ebrake shaft. It seems as though they built it over an existing ebrake. I removed the custom leather ebrake from the package that they sent but i cannot for the life of me remove the plastic ebrake cover from my car. Has anyone done this? Any pointers?!

It pulls off with ALOT of muscle. It helps to have someone work the base up as you pull on the handle. The new one goes on a little easier with some soapy water on the metal handle. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice guys... Indpowr, appreciate the photo... I was actually using one hand... I'll have to do it with 2 hands in the daylight.

Sorry to bring this thread back, but I checked the DSV website and I can't find the ebrake handle cover .. do they still offer this?
