For me, since I have been fortunate enough to have been around since the Camaro's beginning, and to have been a part of that time and culture, it is a hallowed name. Granted, times changed, Government mandates and standards changed, and so did the performance car market along with it. It depends on one's age, and experience with the product, and what one did to or with the car. Scott has his eye on the ball and will carry the torch until the revered, sacred, honored Z-28 will finally return to it's rightfull place in the high performance American car market where is has not been since the early 1970's. The badge may have lost luster and meaning over the decades and was not held true to it's roots, but make no mistake, it will return with a bang not heard since 1967. The Z-28 is the face of the Camaro..., and the faithfull shall be rewarded. This truth I hold to be self evident......
I'm with you on this one!! While the Z/28 name may have been "watered down" along the way, the original intent and product certainly was not. I bought a new '67 RS Camaro and shortly after that heard about the Z/28, wanted one so bad and I finally got one I bought new in '69. I was not disappointed and I'm still waiting for the arrival of a modern day version comparable to that '69, and waiting and waiting and waiting. One of these days I think we'll see one (if I don't drop dead first), until then the naysayers and upholders of "sullied" standard V8 Z/28s can kindly keep their statements to themselves please, I have faith that we will see another Z/28 true to it's original heritage.

In 1969, Chev produced about 20,000 Z/28s...of which about 100,000 survive, today...

How many Gen-1 Camaro SSs have been "restored" with Z/28 stripes applied? Gen-2s?

The current Gen-5 Camaro's most popular stripes were "stolen" from...yes, a Z/28!

Tell ya sumthin'?! Hope so...

Anything can be an SS...a Cobalt, a Trail Blazer, an Impala, a Nova, a Malibu...

There is only ONE Z/28...

Got it?

He's talking about there being more '69 Z/28s around today than were manufactured due to all the "clones" that have been made. I would think there have been far more Z/28 clones made than SS clones, but I don't have any proof of that, that's just my gut feeling.

It's OK to fail once in a while, it's just a little stumbling block on the way to getting a new Z/28 made. And you know (as we all know) that you are another one of us dedicated to the idea of seeing a new Z/28 made.

ShnOman, it shows to go ya what "true" heritage is/means, in "things automotive"...

As our man Scott has soooo often said, "We'll NOT put that badge on just anything, any more..."

And that is good... We don't want anything watered down like a cheap whiskey. I do think the Camaro team could make a 5th gen Z/28 as smooth as Johnny Walker Blue..... The question is do they want to?
