Flute sound from dashboard NOT resolved!

About 2 weeks after I purchased my 1LE I heard a sound like a flute or someone blowing across the top of a glass soda pop bottle from the dashboard.
it did not happen again for 3 months, but then it returned and got more frequent until it was unbearable.
The only constant was that the car had to be in neutral at idle.
Well, my dealership which is a good one feels its either the AC relief valve or the compressor.
They are replacing both today...and they will report back if it fixes it...we will see...

UPDATE! The repairs stopped the flute noise, but as of today 6/1/2015, almost a year since they fixed the flute noise, I have had to bring the car back 4 times now, because the AC works a week after they work on it, then stops...and blows warm air.

FRUSTRATED!

I think I've hears a similar sound recently but it's not very loud and I think I only hear it when the AC is active. Does the sound go away if you turn off the AC?

Might be a bad windshield seal.

The good news, my dealership "Holiday Chevrolet" in WB VA is awesome!
2 of their techs know more about the Camaro than I think all of us forum members combined!
Truly, an awesome dealership.
They do seem to sometimes have a low Camaro inventory, you have to catch the car you want their quick as they go fast.
But again, I am so happy they diagnosed and fixed this issue.
So if you have odd noises, please have your dealership check your AC compressor.
chipset35,

Thanks for your update! It's great to hear that the dealer addressed your concerns and now service is complete. Feel free to message us if you'd like to formally submit a dealership compliment! If not, please let us know how the vehicle operates moving forward and don't hesitate to message us if any additional questions or concerns arise.

Kindly,

William R.

GONIF...I have that same sound! So most of the time I leave the source of that sound at home! Can't "drive' the car when she is with me!

I'm taking a stab...a guess here.

After you get the ac fixed again...and if they only fix what they've fixed before..

Try your AC at all blower levels and settings and see if you're getting full air flow out of all ducts at all speeds.

That whistling noise sounds like a vent door not actuating fully..I had a car with similar problems and it was the vacuum not opening and closing vents essentially blocking airflow...ooverworking compressor and tripped something within the circuit causing the system to fail.
