How to -REPOSTED

Here are the basics of the job

All work is done in the trunk.

Removal:

Remove rear cargo Carpet.

Remove black rear trim panel .

Fold back passenger side rear carpet to access fuse block and new mounting point for controller

Unplug small 2 pin connector/harness that goes through the floor.

Push harness and grommet through the floor exposing it on the other side.

Unplug 2 pin connector at flapper solenoid (above passenger side muffler behind tire)by squeezing hard on metal wires on each side and pulling abruptly. See pic

Install new harness in reverse order.

Install:

Once you have the new harness installed with grommet properly secured in place and connectors properly plugged in you can now install the ADM CONTROLLER

Install velcro in proper location to mount control box.See pic

Remove fuse block cover.

Plug new white connectors together from ADM CONTROLLER TO HARNESS YOU JUST INSTALLED(Only plugs in1 way)

Install nut plate clip were hole is just below factory ground.

Install supplied bolt through relay and bolt to nut plate.(Use 10mm socket)

Remove factory ground bolt and install ground bolt through eyelet in wiring harness.Tighten to 90 inch pounds with 10mm socket

You are required to solder and heat shrink of tap into the pink wire on the back side of the fuse block for power. The red wire is power from the adm controller.

NOTE - THE BLUE WIRE IS THE ANTENNA,A SUPPLIED TYE WRAP CAN TIE IT UP IF NECESSARY

Just ordered mine!!

I got a question for you Andy. When you close the flaps all the way to make car quite how does the exhaust breathe if both flaps are closed? I'm curious to how this works...

When the flaps are closed all exhaust is routed through the muffler and comes out the inner pipe of each muffler. The outer pipe has the flap and is a straight through.

Each side of the car has twin tailpipes. Only one of each pair has the controllable flaps.

Thus, when the flaps are open, exhaust comes out both tailpipes on each side.

When the flaps are closed, it closes one tailpipe on each side, leaving the other two (one on each side) open.

So I got my new “ADM PERFORMANCE “ 3 way exhaust controller in today.I decided to not waste any time getting it installed.

I un-boxed it and to my surprise it could not have been made any simpler to install, 1 connection to 1 power wire, 1 ground wire to the factory ground bolt just 6 inches away. Wire lengths exactly the right length.

Next I had to replace the factory exhaust control harness with the ADM supplied harness (Its Factory as well but with an interface connector to the ADM Controller). It was a bit hard to get to under the car as it is just above the Muffler on the passenger side.

I used a 10mm deep socket and a small ¼” drive ratchet to remove the solenoid shield allowing access to the connector. Once I had access it was just unplug the old one and plug in the new one(I got to keep my factory one I removed in case I ever want to remove the ADM CONTROLLER)

Once I plugged in the ADM CONTROLLER to the new harness I was done with all my connections, Very simple.

I peeled the Velcro back from the controller and stuck it right were pictures said to put it.

So before I went any further I decided to check it out.

Started the car and pushed the b button on the remote and the exhaust got quiet at idle(Idle is normally open)Pushed the b button again and it got louder(Back to factory). Then I pushed the A button and No change, but I realized that is open all the time. At Idle it was already open.

I went ahead and installed the trunk carpet and panels back and hit the road.

So cruising around I left them closed as I am a header car. Then I got on the highway and it went quiet, I hit button A and it was loud all the time.Man this is cool, total control all at the push of a button.

All in all it does everything I expected and did not take all day to install.Great job ADM !
