Any concern with the dynomat from under the tunnel being exposed to the elements? I would have thought it would fall apart eventually ...
I guess the dynamat could eventually have issues. As I said, the stock shifter arms that connect to the transmission were wrapped in some dynamat-like material and they are exposed to the elements.

Dynamat will do okay against the elements as it pertains to its own longevity. The exception being that it will rip fairly easily if hit by debris -- something that is probably not much of a problem up in the tranny tunnel.

However, it will probably trap moisture. This makes it okay for placement on the shifter assembly pieces that are not going to be prone to corrosion (as they do in the Hurst and MGW "quiet kits"). But, placing it in large chunks on the sheet metal of the underside of the tranny tunnel will likely be bad long term. Just my $.02.

The dynamat manufacturer claims that it will not absorb moisture.

I had the MGW shifter in my Supercharged SS and loved it. I like the ZL1's shifter but don't like that it doesn't sit further back when in gears 1, 3 & 5 (can't rest arm/elbow on console and hold the shifter comfortably). Does anyone know if I could use just this piece on a stock ZL1 Shifter just for the setback?
