Outer Trailing Arm Bushing Removal

I have seen the tool the Phadt racing sells to remove these bushings but the has to be a better way then spending 45 on a 1 use tool. Whos done it and what did you use?

You can always cook the sucker with a torch in a well ventilated area. Or get some pipe or a big socket with some threaded rod and nuts.

The tool I used from AutoZone was a free loaner! Cost me nothing but an hour of time!

I used a pitman arm puller. Cut off the back side of the bushing as normal, then on the other side I basically cut the sides off to have a place for the jaws to hold to. I stuck an old bolt with a washer on it in the pushing and it came right out.

Maybe I did something wrong but I broke my puller and pitman arm puller. I ended up burning as much as I could out with a heat gun and then using the biggest puller I had popped it out. Got one side done and gave up for the night.

I used an 8 1/2 " 7/16 fine thread bolt, a 3 1/4" piece of pipe, piece of flat steel to make a puller like Pfadt worked like a champ oh yea and one beer

You guys are creative, but there is a much faster solution. Both bushes out in a minute or less.

Maybe on a brand new Camaro. But there was no way those were coming out this way for me. I tried to remove these today, doing it this way, NO WAY were they coming out. Ended up with a puller, and even that was a PITA.
