I thought the same thing, but I didnt want just an SS I wanted the top dog, everything you could ask for already on the car, carbon hood, new bumper, spoiler, entire body kit, supercharged, mag ride, baddest wheels on the planet, HUD, touchscreen, suede seats, ITS WORTH IT.

I love my SS. I have built it to the point it will run circles around a stock ZL1.

However, if you haven't started any major projects yet (supercharger), going with a ZL1 has many benefits.

Agree. Zl1 is a bit slow for its category

I wanted a ZL1 when they first came out, but bought a modded 2010 SS instead and I am very happy with it. For whatever reason, Porsche's just wont leave me alone but I guess that's OK cause they taste kinda like chicken.

Since you live in Indiana, take that sucker to Lingenfelter and let them turn it into a fire breathing 417 stroker with forged internals and a maggie or whipple. It should lay about 800 to the wheels when they get done.

Bottom line, you'll still probably want to upgrade the motor on the ZL1 eventually, it's just way easier and cheaper to get to 750 horse and at that point you won't have to upgrade the whole drive train like you would in the SS

I was asking myself the same question in March, opted for the ZL1, traded in the '11 SS.

The Zl1 is much more than power. Its handing and feel are what magazines talk more about. To match Zl1 power and handing will cost more than people think. not saying there is some value in keeping and modding the SS. The power, handling and warrnety are worth the cost of a ZL1.

One thing i learned after modding is that there is nothing to replace driving a car somewhat hard and not caring about something breaking. (warrnety)

The ZL1 will one day e a very collectible car worth more than what it now costs new. There aren't many being made each year and if you can keep yours pristine it could end up being a great investment in addition to an awesome car.

Before you decide, do yourself a favor and actually test drive a ZL1.

The ZL1 is a whole different animal than an SS with a supercharger.

It is a total awesome package that was designed from the start to be driven hard and raced.

With a warranty.

Words cannot describe this beast. Give it a try, then decide whether just modding your SS is the way to go.

Decide for yourself.
