it will be "Camaro-based"
which could mean.........
another GM vehicle with Camaro parts to it
another Chevy based on Camaro architecture
an aftermarket Camaro endorsed by GM
a limited edition Camaro
the Camaro Z28
a one-off Camaro
a Chevelle
a Camaro ZL1
a Camaro ZR1
a Beretta
a Camaro hybrid
a Camaro submarine
a Camaro rocket ship
a Camaro racoon
a Camaro-shaped bubble
I will state that I do have very credible sources, and that whatever he says is the shizzzzzzzz!
...there was no mention of the Camaro Stealth Fighter? Awwwww shucks!

Due to development and secrecy on a nation level, GM could not meet the deadline of the beginning of the show. However, you may be able to expect to see it in an upcoming show. The research and current advancements in technology makes developing a product over a long period of time difficult, because you have to make sure your product will be up to date. It is a tough task but with GM's current design team, I think that anything can be done. You can likely expect a release this year.
Thank You for your cooperation.

GM wont do that, thats like bringing back the Trans Am as a Buick. Its just stupid in so many ways....

If anything, take a look at the Chevrolet Lumina SS thats sold in the Middle East. Another v8 sedan based version of the Holden Commodore, just like your G8 is. That's the closest bet to the next version of the G8 in the states with a Bowtie on it IMO.

But i wouldnt be surprised if the Caprice Police car is there as another vehicle shown by GM.

I would rock the one on the left, looks like a Chevrolet S5. That to me is a good thing.

A car that no one knows if it will sell. A car that has no real heritage behind it.
R&D on a any car, whether it uses the Zeta chassis or not, will cost money.

IF there is a new car based on the Zeta, it's better to do something that has a substantial marketing backing, something that the general public will want.
I know it would cost money to develop a new car, I'm just not sure it would be just as expensive using a majority of the existing Camaro to do it. Nobody knows if it will sell because there hasn't been anything to look at, I think that an Auto show would be the best place to show a new car. I think you missed the whole point of my post, so that GM could continue to make money off the existing platform, the changes to the Zeta were done in 2009 and I would hope that GM would get a little more time out of it before they scraped it...

I was under the impression that this new car being shown at Chicago was going to be "exciting". Is a new Chevelle not exciting? A Chevelle has no heritage behind it? I'm not sure what you mean by that, so you are willing to bet that a new Zeta model, that nobody knows would be a better idea than a nameplate some recognize? or are you hoping that this will be the HP Camaro?

I heard GM started the new Zeta in May 2009 and if GM is putting money into the platform to improve it then anything is possible. As long as the platform work is done and proven to work it would take long to build a whole different car on top of it. It took Steve Saleen 45 days to build Bumblebee from the ground up in 2009 and he used the Sigma I believe. I don't think it would have scored a 5 star crash test rating but it can be done...

Zeta has been around since before the G8 came to this shore. They modified portions of that platform to specifically underpin the Camaro (an anticipated high-volume, high-profile vehicle) and called it "Zeta II" during the cars development through 2007-2009.

Don't let the paper stats fool you. GM gave him a fiberglass concept shell...he bolted it up, hacked the interior together to serve as a movie prop and slapped his name on it...
(And it was a GTO)

I've gotta agree with Fenwick though, if they've got an inkling to bring a NEW....not a rebadged Commodore...RWD sedan to market, it will take the better part of two years. Of course...release date it dependant on when they decided to start development...IF they want to do it....and IF it's a brand new vehicle...

The Holden VE Commodore on Zeta has been around since 2006.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

As an owner of a G8 GT I am very interested in this debut. I would love to see what Chevy does with the Zeta sedan. Of coarse, if it IS a Camaro that would be great as well, as long is its not just some appearance package. I've seen a few post about what folks think this "Chevelle" should look like. Well, in 2008 Holden made a concept called the Coupe 60. This was based on the Zeta platform and looks amazing. I also stumbled across a Buick rendering of this as well. Both cars look great and the Buick would actually be deserving of the GN title. Take a look.

I love reading these Z28 threads. So much speculation. I guess we'll know for sure tomorrow.

No one at GM has even seen that one... 'cause it "Stealth." Get it, you can't confirm what you can't see.

Linger Longer.
