Unless you have the dealer paint them on at added cost

No. Sometimes dealers will put cheaper foil stripes on. Sometimes they will use lower quality vinyl that is thinner and more susceptible to damage. They say vinyl but they are cheaper. Beware.

the only reason that a dealer would be installing the stripes, is that the car didn't come with them and you want them, or to repair a damaged car, other than that, they are all installed at the factory.

Do yourself a favour and paint them on. Glossy Stripes are better.
I did that to my bumble and I love them everyday..

If you want the vinyl, may I recommend ordering them straight from GM and pay someone else to install. I don't remember the exact numbers, but to buy the stripes and have the dealer install after the car had already arrived was going to run me a total of about 700 I believe. Luckily, my dad knew a guy who does all the decals for their company trucks and he did mine for me for about 500 (including cost of stripes) This is the same guy who decaled the new Oklahoma County Sherriff camaro

I recommend go custom (3rd party) and have them painted if you are going to go with stripes. JMHO.

Having the dealer put my stripes on right now should be done in an hour or two. Silver hood/hockey. The vinyl stripes really stand out a lot more than painted ones in the sun.

Not sure who puts the stripes on now. At the time I got my car back in June 1 (Produced Apr 28th), the dealer installed them. From what I remember, the stripes the plant installed were more glossy- mine are flat black. Be very careful with them. In an attempt to get bug splatter off of them, the stripe shows the force used (Not much force either).

I don't know this 1st hand, but thought I read where someone damaged their flat black stripes by waxing them- turned ashy.

Knowing this now- I strongly would have went the paint em way.
