Question for you V6 6-speed manual owners . .

Early on I decided that the 2LT would be more than adequate for me. With that decision made, I'd like to hear from owners as to how they like their manual trans Camaro's. As I wait on mine, all I've seen at my local dealers are LS/LT's with the six speed auto. So please tell me - is it a decent trans? (shifting smoothness, clutch takeup, etc). If you had to do it again would you make the same selection? My Aura has the 3.6L with the 6 speed hydramatic and it is a fantastic car. At 'only' 253 HP combined with front wheel drive, it can be a beast to handle if you don't grip the steering wheel tightly before you floor it! (Torque steer) As for the Camaro replacement, to me it just had to have a manual, so I hope I won't be sorry.

Extremely smooth. I could not wait to order one, so I bought the first LS, 6spd off the truck, plus I commute over 100 miles a day, so could not afford to put on that many miles on an SS. I have no regrets what so ever, would order a second LS if my budget allowed, but the other "toys" keep me in line.

Been a great transmission for me, I drive 50 50 hiway/city and love every minute of it. You'll be happy with it.

very smooth, and what I like is how low in the rpm's each gear can go, unlike my old mazda it was very picky about the rpm range on the downshift. 2nd gear and 4th gear feel like you are in a jet when you punch it, but very smooth pull

Works pretty decent for me with 1900 miles Im used to the hydraulic clutch.

Kind of hard to speed shift 2nd gear, hoping it gets a little looser after more miles.

Downshifts great, just that 2nd on the upshift kinda reminds me of the 3rd gear in the old T5 Mustangs, just takes a little extra finesse to keep from forcing it.

On the entrance ramps to get on the interstate, I usually skip 5th gear.

I couldn't agree more. Love the power I get out of second and third gear. It does almost feel like a V-8. It even has a bit of a snarl.

I love my manual transmission - nearly 2900 miles and counting...

Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either transmission in the v6.

I appreciate all who responded. I'm happy to see that even though I have never driven a V6 6-speed manual Camaro I'm not going to be disapointed with my decision. And to RedRaider remember this, my wait is going to be longer than yours since I've just ordered, you're no longer at the end of the queue!

Just came back from a trip to Cheboygan with mine on monday. 1200 miles on the odometer, absolutely love it! Gonna do my first oil change this weekend. Got about 32 MPG.
