I had a G6 the year they came out.. Great little car, very comfortable and durable. I sold it though just as the warranty expired for a new Jeep Grand Cherokee. I want to see a return of the Trans Am in the future..

Well I have one of the last Sunfire Convertibles... there was only 3500 made in 2000.... I guess I will keep it for a while. especially since I sold my Sky.

That's sad to see. I wished i could have gotten my hands on a Solstice Coupe GXP before they disappeared.

Not quite the last Pontiac ... the G3 Wave ends production next month.

We definitely need to have the Firebird come back. This really isn't a muscle car war without it lol.

They could have turned the brand around, and models like the G8 and Solstice were a step in the right direction. They got back towards the sporty image the brand once held. However, the G3 Wave was a big step back. People hate the Aveo ... who would buy one with a Pontiac nose and a better stereo?
While Pontiac has sold more cars in North America than Buick has lately (last year it was 383k vs 154k) the global sales for each brand were 435k for Buick and ... 383k for Pontiac. Yep, in the rest of the world (China) there were 2 Buicks sold for every 1 here. For a bit of perspective, in 2008 Buick sold more than GM's bottom 5 (of 12) brands combined. On top of that, there is a much higher profit on each car, due to both entry lux pricing on Buick and massive (discounted) fleet sales for Pontiac. The business case for getting rid of Buick doesn't make any sense compared to ditching Pontiac.

Ah yes now talk to the criminal business men.
Paying more for less. Sounds like the new buick motto. Its not pontiacs fault that GM ran them into the ground, nor olds, or whatever car manufacturer made awesome cars but got put to the wayside because GM was too shortsighted to move past cloning pieces of crap during the 80's and 90's and 00's. |
