Fuel Economy Question...Again
Hate to bring this up again as it seems it was discussed in a turbo charger thread, but I'm curious what kind of fuel economy people are getting before and after supercharging. I've got a 2013 SS L99 and average fuel economy before installing a Magnuson supercharger was mid 17s. With or without AFM (Range Device) I was getting between upper and lower 17s. After the install on the Magnuson tune I was still getting in the neighborhood of 17 on two tanks even with laying into it semi-frequently. I have since had a complete tune for my car, my mods and my fuel octane including full AFM delete and it's a struggle to average 14.
Anyone else have similar experiences? What average fuel economy are most of you getting supercharged? Mods: Maggie, CAI, ported throttle body, Flowmaster CAT back, ZR1 MAP sensor, MSD BAP. Thanks, Jeff |

I don't really pay close attention to my city mileage, but I know on the highway I was getting around 22 mpg with the cam and supporting mods. Now that I'm supercharged I'm getting like 17 mpg cursing at 75 mph. It's not my DD so I can live with that given my current power level any way!

23 on highway and 16 or so around town. LS-3, E-force, ZR-1 Cam and a custom tune.
We basically lost about 2 MPG around town when adding a supercharger. -Mark. |

A supercharger (it's said) you lose a bit of mpg because the supercharger runs off the belt drive so in theory you need to keep on the gas a bit or it loses some rpm. I read that somewhere so I don't know the truth on that. I do know turbos can help mpg though.

Getting 12-14 in town.
Took a 1700 mile road trip 19-20 most fill ups. Average 75-85 mph on the trip.

Your pulling boost all the time, your mileage is going to be crap unless you drive like a grandmother. The tune that came with your kit was very conservative to avoid blowing your motor, your dyno tune is probably pushing the limits just a bit. If you want like stock mileage you need to go back to stock or to a turbo setup. I have a 78mm turbo and get 27 all day on the highway and 16ish in town. I would gladly trade the mileage for the low RPM grunt that you have.
