How Much oil did you lose after first 1200 miles

Looks like she is down a quart.....Is that normal compared to others?

I think I checked it right, manual says to check it warm so I went for a 20 min cruise, parked it in the driveway and checked it. It was up to the bottom line.

Loose as in leak and/or burn? None.

I dont see any leaking anywhere, so I would say it burned it. I dont really notice any smoke though while reving or anything like that either...

I also did not check it when I got it from the dealer so could have been gone already or not filled all the way. Ill have to fill it up and see where it goes from there.....

I didn't add any oil and I did my first oil change at 1,800....let it sit awhile as the oil seems to take some time bleeding down to the pan

Also note that the 8 qt. mark on the dipstick is in the middle of the crosshatch area, not the top like one would think.

Ours just turned 1000 last week and no measurable oil drop on dipstick from new. Ours was originally filled to the top cross hatch marks when we received it.

If you checked it immediately after turning the engine off, it can read a touch low. In 1200 miles you shouldn't lose much if any, but a little over a lot of miles isn't a big deal.

Before you fill it. do it again, and this time wait about 10 minutes after the engine is shut off to check it. Gotta give the oil a chance to drain back into the pan.

Check it first thing in the morning after it has completely cooled down and make sure it's on a level surface. It is damn near impossible for them to put the incorrect volume of oil in the engine at the factory. Mine has burned no oil at all in 4500 miles.

Thanks Everyone. I tried this again and waited about 10 minutes before checking. It looked much better. The oil was 1/4 way down from the top line. So if the 8 qt mark is in the middle then thas means I am right in the ball park, maybe a little over.
