Engine coolant temp must be warmed up, etc. So if you have a heavy foot, you may rarely notice it. The CAGS eliminator is cheap and easy to install. |

Does anybody know if the camaro will have the Gas Guzzler Tax? I just received February issue of Motortrend and they tested the pontiac g8 gxp which ran 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and the 1/4 13.0 (auto and manual same times). This car has a similiar weight to the camaro 3969 to 3860 manual and 4043 to 3913 auto. I can see the auto with AFM not having the GG tax. I'm hoping the manual won't have the GG Tax. Thanks Pat

Whith the CAGS say you are forced from 1st to 4th, so you put it into 4th, can you then immediatly down shift to 2nd if you needed to?

And if you drive like I do, you will rarely be forced from 1st - 4th. I had that feature on my 6 speed and didn't even know it was there. lol |

There is no immediately from 4th to 2nd (up over and back down isn't exactly immediate IMO). But to answer your question, yes- it's only a very temporary "lockout". Get the skip-shift eliminator from SLP when available; that's what I had on last Camaro and GTO.

That is what I plan to do, but just curious how it works. I imagine we will get our cars before the product is available and I probably won't put it in on the 1st day I get my Camaro. I was just concerned that say during the break in period of the car, I will be driving it soft and if it made me shift to 4th and I was merging on a freeway would I be able to throw it back down to 2nd or would I have to go from 4th to 3rd to 2nd?

I've driven a lot of C5/C6s with the 1 to 4. 1st, on a hard accel. it does not impede you from going 1 - 2 (sorry if that was covered). But if on light throttle, you hold your shift until about 3,000 rpm or so, you can go straight to 2nd. But as you drive the car normally, you can learn to let the shifter just ever so slightly pop into the neutral gate on your way to 2nd and you will also be able to slide it easily into 2nd gear. Takes a littel practive and feel. But the gate only works when you are on light throttle and low rpm to maximize city mpg. The V6 manual doesn't have this "feature", btw.

It locks the gear out, you will not be able to move the shifter down into second if it is engaged.
