I put a message into a dealer about this, so we'll see what the general consensus is.
I had been contemplating the SS anyway. The HUD just lit the fuse to get me moving. I also had really wanted the remote start, RS package & larger wheels. I agree had it just been the HUD going in debt for an additional 14K would be ludicrous!

I truly expected there to be a deal breaker right down to the last minute, but it all worked out. Had the payments been another $50/mo I may have walked.

My wife asked me what the next upgrade is. I told her the Z28 would be the next move up when it comes out, but there's no way I would be able to justify that kind of money.

I was considering this too. my car is probably worth the same as yours was but i'd need to put up whatever the difference is (I want to keep the same loan and payments) and just do a cash+trade-in transaction... or I could get certified used with the same mileage as my old one... only now its an SS... I better calm down before I salivate...

Looks like a lot of V6 Owners are trading up , "GREAT MOVE" ! !

I also traded in the V6 (SIM 2LT/RS w/ 8807 mi. got her back in may 2009)and went up to the 2011 2SS/RS w/ 9 mi. and "NO REGRETS" . The only regret I have was that I first went with the V6 (with ) instead of the V8 , live and learn..

When I traded in my V6 I only took a $1000.00 loss but I made it all back and plus some extra added $$'s thanks to USAA and the Dealerships Great Military Discount Offers and along with the GM / USAA $750.00 Rebate at the end on top of that too ! ! My payments only went up $30.00 and I upped up my insurance to a Premium $$ Policy and that went up just a couple of dollars more a month from the cheap basic get by insurance policy I used to have ..

I did ask the dealer to let me know when he gets a manual with the Hurst shifter in. I won't trade again, but I would like to see if the Hurst is a little easier to run through the gears.

Don't try the manual now that you bought the auto. You'll regret it.
BTW after about 1500 miles the shifting gets super smooth. Its just stiff when it's new.
