on star diagnostic

Has anyone been getting the diagnotic check from On Star? Once a month On Star checks the car and emails me a diagnostic when they are done. It is quite comprehensive. The only thing they spotted were tires were low on pressure. This is a free service offered by On Star for a year from the date of delivery.

I get one every month, after my litttle fender bender in Nov. they sent me one that said stabiltrac needs maintenance or something like that. mostly it's the tire pressure is low.

Yes, once you purchase the car and either you or your dealer signs you up, you get it once a month. Do not worry so much about the tire pressure which is udually lower when it is colder out.

I got my Camaro in November and have only had one diagnostic report.

My car has been off the road since December......I wonder if that should matter.
If not....I'm beginning to wonder if I'm fully signed up with OnStar.

I initially did call in to activate the OnStar, but as soon as I didn't sign up for their "extras", the conversation was cut short.

Very poor customer service in my opinion.

Anyone else with a car in storage have this happen ???

Well it would probably be hard for OnStar to communicate with you car if it's not on... That's just what I would imagine.

The OnStar Computer shuts off after 3 days of the car not being run. So no drivey = no diagnoticey

What are they charging for OnStar. I am at least 10 weeks away from delivery. I don't want to pay for this feature after the first year. But during the first three years it's not a bad idea to have an automatic, monthly diagnostic performed while the car is under full warranty. Hate to have something not working and not finding out till it's out of warranty. I wonder if there is away we can pull that report manually.

I think if something is wrong with the car it will tell ya before on star does. I may be wrong but I'm will'n to bet it pulls all that info from the OBDII system.

You should at least pay for the basic OnStar package for other reasons.

1) They can open your doors if you lock your keys in your car.

2) They can track your car, keep it from starting and shut it off if it's stolen.

The yearly fee for the non-direction plan is $199, also includes roadside assistance. From where I sit, well worth it.

I do like the report that arrives via email. showed this to one of my friends that is a car guy...and he was amazed.

Tried the onstar feature to demo to my wife.....it is a bit awkward when someone from a call center answers the line...but in an emergency, this will be worth its weight in gold.

The built in phone is great, but cannot justify the cost, since I have an cell phone.
