Srt8 chargers/challengers are not that fast. Even some modded challenger srt8's at the track with radials couldn't even get 12.5 in the 1/4. They were struggling to break into the 12's. I am not impressed one bit.

Then they suck at driving considering I have a jeep that runs mid 12s with just a tranny and a tune

Another lost thread. lol.

Anyways, I can most definitely see a well modded/tuned V6 giving an otherwise stock R/T some heck on the road. R/T should have a better run from a dig I'd guess.

But an SRT seems like a bit of a stetch to me. This coming from a V6 advocate lol.

Suffice it to say, that's the motor the GM wishes it had for the Z06...instead they've got some junk dinosaur pushrod v8 in there.
My dream car is a a Z06 with a VQ swap.
The LS7 is hardly a "junk dinosaur pushrod V8". It's a handbuilt masterpiece that makes the Z06 a track monster. A 7000rpm pushrod smallblock is unheard of but GM did it, then used it in the C6R to dominate the ALMS with 42 wins in 50 races from 2005 to the first half of 2009. But I suppose you're right. GM must be overflowing with envy over all 268 ft/lbs of torque that the VQ puts out. Guess they'll just have to be content with the 475 that the LS7 produces.

I considered this, but figured that I've read stranger posts in just this thread alone. If it was a joke, my bad.

Nice, the VQ series came out years before the LSx series(over a decade before the LS7; about the time the LT engine debuted). Comparing it to the LT1..... 3.5-3.7 liter V6 287-348 hp versus 5.7 liter V8 260-305 hp.

If you get butt hurt about comparing a newer VQ to an older LT1.... A 3.0 liter Nissan V6 VG30DETT from 1987(5 years before the GM LT engine) made 300 hp, a time for GM when 5.7 liter V8 Corvettes were rated 240 horsepower....

ROFL! You really have no clue about what those cars are capable of. Hell, even automatic R/Ts have hit 13.1-13.2 BONE STOCK with the automatic.

He was being sarcastic. Our Infinite friend tends to think all modern pushrods are dinosaurs when he couldn't be more wrong.

It was like 01 when the 250+ versions of the VQ (3.5) came out? The 3.0 that was out when the 265-275HP LT1s were out put out roughly 190-200 HP, so HARDLY comparable. When the the VQ was putting out 290, the normally aspirated version of GMs "ancient" 3.8 pushroad were putting out 200-205 and the supercharged 3.8 was pusting 240. And wow, they had TURBO V6 putting out 300 HP, great, but with those TWIN TURBOS it proves nothing and doesn't make your 2007 VQ ANY bit more impressive.
