My guess is right along with these guys, it could be a fuel pressure issue.

Unrelated but kinda similar, my Yamaha FZ1 tends to do this after it's been sitting for awhile after being hot. I'll go hop on and it will start then die a few times before it will stay running.

That doesn't explain why it's fine on cold starts.

Yeah I guess we are the only two with this problem and happen to be 2011 models.

Here is a video of a POP sound when starting the car. Any people on this helpful forum possibly know what may be the issue??? It sounds pretty bad and does it randomly when car is warm.

Please excuse messy garage. In the middle of cleaning it.

Man... sounds like rod knock but obviously is not. A knock that loud would manifest more than that.

I'd say maybe you have a header or exhaust hitting under the car?

But since there is more than one of you I'd say starter?

The audio is great but I can't think of anything. I'm just throwing them out there.

Exhaust headers and back will expand when hot and the motor shakes the most at start up.

2010 LS, Auto - mine does this as well. Only when warm (but not every time) and never on a cold start (where the engine revs higher for ~10 seconds).

Occasionally, it will make a backfire pop as well -- but it usually just sounds like a single, regular engine knock when it happens. It does not cause the car to stall out or anything, and it runs fine once started.

It generated a code one time, so I took it into the dealer. The code translated to a bad spark plug, which they replaced under warranty. However, the problem still continues every once in a while (never when at the dealer of course!).

I get the same thing every once and awhile when starting - never even made note of it honestly until this thread - I guess it probably only happens when shes hot.

Why does it matter? The choking doesnt even last for as long asyou turn the key - and it definately doesnt stall or bog out.

That knock sound seems to only happen while cranking. I'd suspect something to do with the starter. A rod knock would persist beyond cranking. Possible heat soak issue with respect to starter.
