Bad Order Railcar

Who can tell me any information about this? I know that it takes the railcar out of business. Does whatever on that railcar get loaded onto a new railcar?

Not sure what happens, but mine was at that status for 2 or 3 days.

Not 100% sure, but I believe that bad order means that there was a problem with the railcar. It could mean anything, mechanical, brakes, etc. It is probably delayed a bit until they fix it then it continues on. I don't know, however, if it was a really big problem if they would unload the cargo to another railcar.

That's good news. Glad to know it won't be delayed for too long!

When that happened on mine, the railcar had to be repaired because of the brakes. It was out for several days. The Camaro stayed on that railcar.

Hello everyone. Long-time lurker, first time poster. I used to work on the railroad as a conductor for CP in Toronto. I have actually worked the Oshawa autorack yard. Anyway, a bad-order car is infact a rail car that has some kind of mechanical problem. Unless it is at a yard with a trans-load facility, they will not unload it. The repair time will depend on what failed and whether or not the repair shop works 24 hours a day or not. The autorack could be layed up for a few days. When I worked for CP, autorack trains did have very high level of priority, only inter-modal hotshots were higher on the list. Car companies pay very well to have their products shiped, so that bad order car is hot at the shop to be fixed. Hang in there!

My railcar was bad ordered on July 14th in Armourdale, KS for defective air brakes, the load was not off loaded to another railcar and it didnt arrive in Mira Loma, CA until Aug 10, almost 3 weeks to repair the air brakes. Hopefully you have better luck.
