Congrats, the car looks gorgeous! I know you said that you have known the GM tech for 7 years but I would be a little leary about that statement. If you trust the dealer that much than GO FOR IT! But me, I would want something in writing from the dealer. A paper trail is always a good thing to have. God forbid but if something were to happen to it and you take it in and they find out you didn't follow the break-in that's their way out. Then it's a he said she said fight. I agree 1500 miles seems to be never ending.

Good luck with it! I highly recommend a clear bra for protection.

I found this awhile back. I could be wrong and maybe your dealership is right but I would question the fact that they say there is no break in period. Click on the link.

Hope this answers your question.

IMHO, The break-in is more for the owner than the Car.

580 HP can get away from you quickly and GM beleives the driver requires some degree of a learning curve.

BTW, thanks for all the comments! : )

I love her!!!

BTW, the most interesting part of the pick-up.

Salesman tells me...No break-in required?!?!

The dealership also has a High-performance shop attached to it. I have known the GM tech there for 7 years...As soon as I'm done with the paperwork, I go right in the back and say...

"Kevin, the salesguy said No break-in, but I have heard you gotta break-it in"...He just just laughed and said..."Mike, drive it the first day the way you plan on driving it the last day...No break in!"

I will forgo any burnouts for the 1st 100 miles...but then I am going to open her up.

It's pretty awesome to have a performance shop affiliated with the dealership....Any bolt-ons done by them are covered by warranty!

Doing the mild-to-wild this weekend.

Rotofab at 750-1000 miles when I do the first oil change.

Hello Lethal Z,

Great news that your ZL1 is back in your possession and ready to go! We are excited and looking forward to seeing more pictures. If there is anything we can do to help in the future we will be happy to.
