I've not seen it on glass used in cars.

I saw some videos on DIY a year or so ago, I think I'd rather have a customs shop do it so I can blame them when it goes horribly astray lol

I was thinking the same thing - only it turns out it is illegal in most states (counts as reflective tint). So I may have to just find somebody good to do it offline. Best price on parts so far is 1000 before shipping, Ouch haha.

You're talking about like what the rear view mirror does at night? Or are you talking about custom LCD glass?

I believe he is talking about a special type of glass that when an electrical current is run through it, the class becomes opaque and when that current is stopped the glass becomes clear, or vice-versa. Pretty cool concept - had never considered it for tint purposes before.

I've thought about it for tint, but the cost is ridiculous. The glass has to be made, cut, prepped in a sterile vacuum environment. There's a company that offers this for license plate frame covers - runs about $550 though.

Hahaha with all the red light and speed cameras around here it would pay itself off in no time!

that's LCD/switchable glass and it requires an active electrical current for it to be transparent.. I own an auto and marine glass company and looked into it.. not only would I never install it on a customers car due to the liability, but it would cost so much there is no way anyone would purchase it..

Yes I am talking about the one where when you run current thru it, it becomes clear. However I was reading you don't have to buy the glass. They offer just the film to do the trick now. So that's what I was considering because the price is so much lower.
