If things follow history like we've seen with the 5th Gen then you may get your wish.

The 1st Z/28s were made for the track and in the 70's the Z28 was there for the daily driver. I can see the Z28 as a big money maker with the 6th Gen. We'll just have to wait and see what's in the cards but I can bet you we'll see more of the Z28 in the future.

For anyone from your preferred community still wondering, this is Camaro5. We are a Chevrolet enthusiast forum. While anyone is welcome to join, those who respect our members and follow the rules will be welcome to stay.

I may be wrong but I thought the number was going to be limited based on the number of left over LS7 engines after the Z06 production ended and the plant that was building them closed. I don't know if they have completely stopped making them yet but they will have to keep enough set back for warranty issues and GM performance parts to sell.

I don't think they can use leftover LS7s because the one in the Z/28 has been upgraded a little.

I know they continued building them after the Z06 went out of production, maybe those were upgraded. Does anyone know when the plant was closing?

The 1Le is what the z28 was. A within reach sports car with the base corvette
engine. Actually it's more car than any previous gen z28 and I have had a couple.

What I think we're trying to do is to bring the Z/28 back to it's original purpose - and that is to find mustangs on a road course and eat them. No - I'm not saying that this car is set for SCCA rules - what I AM saying is that this car is an amazing driving machine - and on a road course it will blow cars costing many times more to kingdom-come.

NOW - that said -- and I've mentioned this before:

no matter WHAT we do with the Z28 or Z/28 moniker - we alienate some people. For too many years we've alienated the original Z/28 enthusiasts by using the nameplate on a much more mainstream Camaro. To some that's a good thing.......and for a lot of years, they were happy. The reality is that it's time to honor the nameplate by taking it back to its roots.

Yes-- it's expensive - but I invite you to drive a new 1LE or an SS or a ZL1 - and you'll see that we've built a Camaro for 'every purse and purpose" (to use a quote from one of our founders - Alfred Sloan.......

I DO hear what you're saying - but when the final numbers from Nurburgring are published - and the final production numbers are announced - I think - or hope - that you'll see where we're coming from - and that the decisions we make are never easy ones --

We sweat EVERY DECISION because we know we'll get blistered no matter what.
