When I talked with John Fitzpatrick yesterday he stated that the sensors would be visible and mounted on opposite sides of the reverse light. From what he described to me I think they would look something like this.

Yes they will certainly be color keyed to the body.

That makes sense... Thinking about the previous suggestions of "between" the rear fascia and the diffuser, that would not work because of the ground effects option.

So, in this case, I'm thinking as far as looks though... Guess I'll have to see it first though.

Yeah I thought the manual mentioned lights or something? I dunno, I didn't look into it that much

When I looked up back up sensors on google images, it seemed that the sensors on all the soccer mom cars were placed at the farthest back surface of the vehicle. If they're placed as described above, there will still be the lip below the sensors on the Camaro's bumper. I don't know enough to know if that matters or not, it's just an observation. I do know that there would be less conspicuous choices than to mount them next to the reverse lights, and I'm having a hard time working out the symmetry in my head of how that would look.

I realize it looks silly to a lot of people, but this might actually be a deal breaker for me.

yeah someone even posted a picture of the seats where the light would go..I guess it was going to cost too much to add that in also in the middle of the Model year

how about relocating the ignition onto the dash - maybe even add a permanent key like the new CTS? also, anyone else hate the seatbelts?

I'm pretty much a ludite when it comes to technology and the Camaro. But I like the idea of having backup sensors on the car. I would much rather see them add $300 to some of them than making it a stand alone option costing significantly more $450 $600? $900? I don't know, but I would guess that GM did market research and concluded that the most profitable way to include this feature is the exact way they are doing it. Reading the comments from some, it would seem that every single feature should be an option.

Regarding your general comments. Sounds like you are over dramatizing just a tad. While some of those things listed are valid concerns, I am not sure anybody was calling for the firing squad. Well maybe some mustang guys since the Camaro recently outsold them for the first time since 93 and can hand them their ass on a platter
You weren't around for the spyshots, his description of the reaction is rather accurate, a little over the top but not by much.

And as for the disciples, they were (are) Camaro enthusiasts who collectively understand what the Camaro is, and what it should be. We have a few on the site, send a PM to Garfin if you want to know more about what they did. He is one of them.

No - we had them come to Detroit.......

And yes, they are, for the most part, performance enthusiasts - some like drag races -- others like autocross - -still others like a good road course....

And dramatic? Perhaps you'd have liked to have seen some of the emails and messages I got..............

No - not dramatic.

Another panic du mois. I can't wait for everyone to see the final result so we can hear all the "hmm, it's not so bad. Guess I panicked and went and built that nuclear fallout shelter for nothing..." stories.

Seriously guys, something that tells you "Hey, you're about to hit this post behind you" or "hey, you've still got 10 inches before you hit your garage wall, come on back a little farther!" (for those of us with small garages who like to back in) isn't that bad.

Besides, of all the things that sent panic into the streets with this car, have ANY of them really been as bad as everyone thought they would be?

"Oh, you're not a real man if you need back-up sensors!" Whatever. No one NEEDS them. I've backed into tight spots plenty of times using the wall as my spotter and stopping when I bumped it. I've almost hit dark telephone poles at night because I was tired and just glanced behind me. I've never taken out anyone's mailbox, but for $300 bucks I think I can handle having this feature. Besides, it's 1/100th of what your car costs. In the grand scheme of things, it's not that big of a deal.
