LS3 SS V. RS6

As the title says, my buddy has a 2003 RS6 and thinks he will DESTROY my SS, I know the RS is faster, but I think the SS would keep up, not get totally DESTORYED....your thoughts? 03 RS6 has Twin Trubo V8, making 450 HP, 0-60 in 4.3

I think it'll be a pretty healthy spanking. Those RS6's are pretty quick car. Lots of low end torque, AWD, and a quick shifting tranny will make it pretty hard for him to screw up.

You'll need a few bolt ons to keep up, they will get really nasty up top, and the awd off the line will beat you pretty good too.

go to the bottom, 0-60 in 4.6, quarter mile in 14.1. you would get him in the quarter...

Magazine racers don't always win.

The RS6 is a mid 12's car (easily) in stock form.

Just do the math. The source you gave is way off.

5 speed, 450 hp, ~4000 lbs, AWD. Its gearing is no more aggressive than in the Camaro. Why shouldn't it be roughly equal to the Camaro? Most of the advantage of AWD is in 0-60, but it robs power. It would win an 1/8 mile race, but the gap would narrow slightly in the 1/4. Was the 14.1s time slow? Sure. But I don't think they'd be getting mid 12's that easily. I'd expect high 12's to be encountered regularly, when the Camaro with an equal driver would be ~13s.

They're not too far apart. Hurry and get an exhaust and a tune before the race.

I don't think the camaro would have enough to narrow the lead the RS6 would put on it, but it should be able to stop the bleeding on the second half. Past the 1/4 it would probably start to slowly reel it in.

Maybe, I'm basing it off the fact that an AWD car with 450 hp will be putting about the same power to the ground as an LS3 Camaro. With an extra ~200 lbs and no real gearing advantage, the Camaro will gain after the RS6 gets the initial lead. We can agree on that much. Now, will it start clawing its way back after a few hundred feet or will it need 1000+'? Getting into such fine details is beyond my bench racing skills. Either way, all it does is makes it a closer race and not a Camaro win.

The Audi has more horsepower, a better power to weight ratio, and WAY better traction. It's going to leave the Camaro and do nothing but INCREASE the lead it grabs right off the start the longer they race.

Find an Audi to race without an "R" in the name.

how is 9.13 lb/hp (4057/444) better than 9.06 (426/3860)? And thats from crank hp. The AWD system in the Audi will rob a few more percent than in the RWD Camaro, giving them roughly the same wheel hp. But thats splitting hairs in my opinion.
