Question for those with footwell lighting

Might be a noob questions but when do the lights turn on & off? I'm going to be ordering some soon but I just wondering how they should be wired. I will be taking the car to the shop for the install. Thanks in advance.

I got mine hooked up to the dome light, so they fade in and out when I open and close the doors. If I want them on during car shows, I just turn the dome light on and they stay on to illuminate during the show. Some people have them wired to a switch as well. All depends on what you want.

If you paid more than $10 for footwell lights you paid to much. IMO. I paid for two strips of led lights from ebay and wire form local hardware store about 6 feet and looked up the DIY, on how to wire it and I spent a total of 30 minutes and $5 with taxes. They look great!!!!

Is this a switch that you had to have mounted somewhere inside the car?

It's hidden under the dash, it's still easily accessible but I plan on drilling a hole next to the light switches and placing it there

This. I love having the option of running them when I want via switch.

I do like how they fade on/off if you tap the dome light though.

Here's the switched writeup

You can have it switched to constant on, fade or off.

For those of you who want to match the color of our interior camaro lights the only place I recommend is AAC oracle lighting, it is a perfect match, I tried other places cheaper but terrible color, difference.
