A big thanks to everyone that has responded. The numbers are what I was hoping to hear. Sure, I could go out and get a "better" MFG car for my DD, but I just love the Camaro, always have, and my other 2 are my cruise night, car show, drive in nice weather "toys". Told the wife last night and her reaction was "better" than I thought it would be. So.......what color?? Hmmmm....

2LS here. I drive 60 miles each day, a mix of "city" driving, and highway driving where I'm typically over 80mph. I currently see about mid to low 19MPG with Exxon Supreme. With Regular, I was seeing about 17.5 - 17.8 MPG.

When I got my Camaro last year, I was getting like 18-19mpg but at that time the car was not even broken in, at present I have 5300miles on it, since I work from home most of the time I rarely go to the office, but when I have to go at the office I have long drives about 100miles one way which is mostly freeway and with spirited driving on freeway I have hit 26+ mpg. While I am in city, I have never driven it conservatively and still hit 22-24mpg. I am happy with the mileage I am getting given that its a v6 with 300+ hp.

Running regular on the interstate I see about 24.5mpg during road trips. Real world driving which is mostly city I see an average of 17.8mpg on regular.

I think the payback for buying a V6 will be very long.
Hmm, intersting. You may be right!
But, as a V6 owner, I have to chime in on the overall lesser expenses when it's not an SS or RS (tires, brakes, insurance).
Still, those numbers make a good argument for buying a V8.

You all bring up very valid points. V8 or V6? I already have 2 Camaro's that are my "fun" cars so I'm not really looking for 3rd Camaro with V8 power (If I am then I take out the SS with it's 735 hp for fun). I think for my purposes of a DD I'm leaning towards the V6. Thanks for everyone's input, never thought I'd get this many responses and the info has been insightful.

I have had 32 mpg too on a long highway trip. The 2LS gets the best mileage due to the gear ratio.

I agree with everything that has been written. I have a V-6 Camaro and the mileage is great. I traded out of a 2010 Impala that I was getting 21-22 MPG city and 30 MPG Highway and I am getting the same mileage with the Camaro but with a lot more power and a lot more fun to drive. Good Luck my friend.

Yellow or White. Good pin striping on either

FYI...I have a 2014 Impala as a loaner while my ignition switch recall car is being repaired. LONG wait. Getting 24 in city with it. BUT..the ignition switch on the new Impala shuts off in traffic!!! Just like the recalled one does. Arrrggghhh

If he is interested in manual, the 1LS doesn't have the more fuel efficient gear ratio. But, as a daily driver, an auto can make more sense anyway.

I was thinking (in regards to my own 2LS), it would be interesting to mod the car in various ways with the specific goal of better MPG (without loss of performance).

Thanks to everyone's input and it helped. Today I ordered a 2014 Camaro 2LT, V6, Auto, RS package, MyLink Nav, Summit White with Blue Leather and the Blue Accent package as my new daily driver and to compliment my 2011 SS and 1981 Z28. Clock is ticking and I should have it in 6 weeks!

That sounds like a nice ride. I wanted the auto with the 2.92 also but got tired of looking and dealing with idiot dealers in California. My wife ended up buying the car while I was at work. Got a manual. So far we have 3400+- and are averaging 27.5 by what the car says. I haven't reset it since we bought the car so I don't know if it is accurate. Last week I thought I would do a milage check and drove it to work. I live in Lake Tahoe but work in LA. 800+ round trip should be good for a test. First off I figured people would say "It's all downhill" so I started the test in Gardnerville at the bottom of the hill. Elevation is 4,000'. Where I end up in LA is about 700'. There are two passes over 7,300' and one over 8,000 that I have to climb plus a lot of small hills all the way down. I drive real smooth(read as boring) when I'm going for mpg. Some will say like a grandma but I say two grandma's passing me. Coast down hills IF the car will stay above 55mph. Drove 58-62. First stop I did the math and it was 41mpg. Then I realized that I divided the cost per gallon and not the gallons used. Proper math came up with this.
Gardnerville Nv to Fort Independence Ca. 189.2mi 5.104g=37.06
Fort Independence to Burbank Ca. 219.2mi 5.825= 37.63
Burbank back to Gardnerville 416.4mi12.966=32.11
824.8mi 23.895=34.52mpg

In Burbank there was about 20 miles of goofing around but the rest was all highway. All fill ups where done slow and all the way to the cap. Bone stock with 44psi cold. Short shifting and never over 1,900 rpm.
