Most go with a M6 to a 4L80.
I honestly haven't seen anybody going to a 6L80 or 6L90 from a M6. Only a Canuck that would think about doing that conversion. lol....

Still havent got the 4L80 from jakes. They said they were 4 weeks behind on building it that was november 24th. Expecting it soon, rest of the parts are sitting in a pile in my garage. Just helped my cousin work on his 4L80 swap a couple weeks ago so have kind of an idea what im doing lol

Pcmofnc would know. They make a wiring harness that adapts a 4L80 to stock 6L80 wiring harness and computer. They told me it would not work on a m6 to 4L80 though. I guess you would have to switch to a stock A6 wiring harness. Are the plugs on a 6L80 the same as a 6L90?

I did the m6 to 4l80, it wasn't too bad to do at all. The person for you to get ahold of is dave steck at dsx tuning. He does plug and play harnesses for the m6 to 4l80 so I'd imagine doing a m6 to 6l90 would be a piece of cake!

My car went from n6 to a6 back to m6. A6 to m6 no problem. Swap harness etc. No big deal. But going from m6 to a6. Now thats the tricky part. Harness needs swap plus numerous other things. I would do a 4l80 anyday. A6 trans are not that good. Real power needs a real trans like a 4l80 or a th400/ gear vendors setup. Dont waste the time on the 6l80 or 6l90. When it flare shifts and starts to crap out you will just kick yourself in the ass for it. I think the swap from m6 to a6 cost the old owner 12 to15k to do the swap.

Then the talk of the 6l90 came up-I heard there strong as hell. At PRI I even talked my buddy Rodney at RPM and even he said look at the 6L90. Surprisingly he's not a fan of the 4L80 and he didn't think the 60 would last too long with the weight of the car. |

Steve Vigoa has ZL1 and he's been going 9.3's with stock converter and dual adders.

I'm starting to get pricing on all the parts then ill start collecting them. I think I'll need to get the E67 ecm in order to get the right TCM numbers for the 6L90. Unless this is something that can be changed by the dealer with there tech 2. |

With the 4L80 the car will rev around 500 rpm higher at 85 mph. Then I need a standlone tranny controller unless I can find an E38 with a 4L80 ecm-which i'm sure came in some trucks.
And I don't want to cut and hammer anything-which I need to do with the 80. GM makes a 4L85-E with extra clutches that's rated at 685 tq. |
