Hey All,

I'm here... My shop is a disaster, and there is lots to be done but we'll handle up on it...

I'm waiting to hear from Corey about whom I need to contact to purchase a transmission for Brandi....

We had a little discussion about it when I dropped her off Sunday afternoon.

The preliminary thoughts are a 6060 built with the SFI steel bellhousing, the mid plate, 9310 gears and shafts throughout and the TR56 gear ratios.

This is a taller first gear so it will allow us to stretch her out a little off the line without having to immediately shift... and should help with spinning off the line.

What did I miss? Is your OE gearbox trashed?

You really don't need 6 forward gears anymore

After discussion with two high level transmission companies, we have come to the conclusion that either the (most likely) the bell housing is bent or (less likely) the case is bent. Regardless, I'm not having any remaining part or portion of that trans left in my car... So, we talked to two different vendors and will have a BUILT TR6060 with the steel SFI rated bell housing and the midplate, as well as all the good parts within it...

RSG, Rockland Standard Gear and RKT56 are discussing it and we are waiting on a reply from one or the other to proceed...

I'm still waiting... I'm not worried about it, like has been pointed out to me many times, you can't hurry this process along... These things take time and I would rather have them hash it out and get it right than to hurry it and have more problems...

I've fought going to an auto, and it's funny the number of PM's I've recieved of people following along hoping I can make it work... whether they are just fans of the manual trans or hoping I can figure it out to save them the hassle of trial and error, It matters not the reason, but the support has been fun...

Wow,

I just got off the phone with Corey, and here is the latest...

RSG, Rockland Standard Gear, is trying to get this set up for me...

It's a TR6060 with...

Features
  • All gears and shafts are made of 9310 Alloy Steel
  • The gear train has a 22 degree helix angle for increased strength, less thrust load, and lower operating temperatures
  • All Tranzilla units feature C5 Corvette Triple Cone Synchronizers for ultra smooth shifts
  • Steel 3-4 Shift Fork
  • Solid, billet synchronizer keys
  • All components match fitted, and clearance corrected (blue printed)
  • New OEM bearings
  • Competition, race ready shim package

and.........

A tail housing with an internal shifter... Part of the supposition is that the flexing and torque twisting of the motor/trans is causing the shifter to not fully engage since it is connected at the rear to the body of the car...

With an internal shifter, there will be no external forces acting on the shifter other than me... so... Corey is waiting to talk to George at RSG in the morning to find out the price and it's on... I'll have an MGW for sale soon... With this one, you simple bolt on a shift rod and a ball and go to town...

This is a true racing transmission... so it ought to handle up on lil ole Brandi's power...

I'm stoked...

Ignore the part that says Ford Race Box... It's basically the same trans...

To install this, we will have to cut my brand new driveshaft from the Drive Shaft Shop, cut it to length, and put the carrier for a new u-joint on it... We'll also have to rebuild/modify the cross member... But, according to George, this thing shifts like butter...

I had DSS put a custom yoke on for my tranny. I bet Frank would do that work for you.
