If you don't plan on taking care of your car sure, $100 isn't bad. If you plan on caring for your car, don't just walk away, run.

After thinking about it, I'm probably not informed enough to know whether this was a good move or not?

The Question: Should I proceed and have them clearcoat the outside and put protector in the leather interior and carpets?

Any advice? Thanks Rod
It's a rip off, used to work at a dealer so I know. That stuff they try and sell is pure profit for them and the salesperson.

This thread is great. Now I feel even better for turning down the paint protection package on my new 2LT.

Okay - the dealership got back to me and said they use Malco products for the paint sealant, undercoating and interior protection. A quick look on the net shows Malco has been around a while and makes all kinds of chemicals for pros and consumer markets.

I never asked about undercoating.... input? I live in Iowa and winters are rough with lots of salt/sand on the roads. Actually, I've always negotiated the same package for new cars, and I always buy new. I've never had any compliants with any of it, although that could be placebo effect?

Input on undercoating and/or Malco? Let's have it, boys.

Rod

That's exactly what I did yesterday.

At one point I just politely interrupted the guy and said "I don't mean to sound rude, but I don't want to waste your time, either. I'm gonna pass on every offer you have for me. The price I agreed to with my salesman is the price I'm walking out of here paying, sorry."

He looked so crest fallen. lol

I got it when I got mine, and the only reason for doing so is that it came with a 7 year warranty that if anything food based(and a few other things, I can't remember what exactly) stained the interior and didn't come out it would be replaced at no cost. So I don't know if it really works or not, but to me that warranty sealed the deal.

You better test that out before those 7 years are up to make it worth while.
