Front Speakers
Unhappy with the sound coming out of the stock BA speakers. Was wondering what needs to be done to simply replace the front door speakers. Dont want to do anything crazy just clear up the sound a bit.

Going to have to take the door off... isn't the easiest thing (in my experience).

And speakers themselves won't make that much difference with the factory amp in place. Replacing the amp will make a better difference than simply swapping the front speakers. |

When you buy new speakers, you might want to check on tweeter size before buying. I bought some MB Quart QS216's and the tweeter is larger than the pod the original BA tweeter is mounted in at top front of door panel, so beware of that. I am in the process of making my own tweeter pods to replace the originals. You will need some adapters for the 6 1/2" door speakers also, and you may want to get those from ******** .com.

Since I had done the speaker swap before I removed the screws and just popped the door panel loose and reached in and removed the bolt holding the speaker and removed the speaker without removing the door panel.

Replace the factory amp, it'll make a huge difference and if your still not happy then change the door speakers. Taking the door panel off is easy. Takes about 3 minutes. I've had mine off several times. |

That's how I am working on mine. Did the amp and fark harness and added a 10 bazooka tube. Thumps like crazy and does sound a lot better now. Next is to change out the speakers, just need to find the time. Been busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest lately.

Relocated Tweeters to just above the woofers on doors
I upgraded my door speakers from the JL Audio C2-650 Components to the C5-650 Components. I didn't like the way the speakers sounded with the woofers & tweeters being so far apart so I mounted the tweeters closer to the woofers on both doors. Sounds a lot better now, I think.
