So I'm driving home I go to downshift from 5th gear to merge on the freeway and I can't pull the car outta gear ...shifter was loose like a noodle . I still had clutch though shifter linkage maybe ??? BTW trying to start from a dead stop in 5th SUCKS lol

After market shifter? Hopefully you just lost the pin that connects the shifter to the linkage.
