Ill say it again ur best bet is a whipple 2.9
the 1le we just built made 840rwhp with 13psi on a 416 on 93 and meth in hot weather. The car here in dubai males 1.5 more psi due to elevation change so its above 850rwhp here right now.

I'd go 3.6 KB as I don't think you're gonna be happy with a 2.3L TVS in the long run. Get something that you can grow into and is not gonna hold you back like your 1.9L was. 2.8L KB's have also become run of the mill and not very exciting at least from what I see when on top of a ford engine.
There is a stockish Boss on SVTP that runs 9.7's at 148+ and 202mph+ in the mile with just a 3.6L KB as a power adder and 2.73 rear gear, just imagine what it could do with your 6.2L. Go big or go home.

I'm on the 2.3 but didn't get as much gain as I expected. I'm still wondering if it was worth the expense. After I swapped on the 2.3 I realized that all of the hoop-lah about how efficient the 1.9 was must be true. It seems that it takes about 30 more horses to spin the 2.3 so you loose half of the boost gain. It does stay cooler but that is not nearly as big a deal on 10 second 1/4 mile bursts as it is on 30 minute road race sessions. The 2.3 didn't gain me much power but it did drastically lower the intake temps under sustained loads of road racing.
If I was going to do a dedicated drag racing car I would try the Kenne Bell 3.6 and see if I could get it to fit under the COPO hood. That blower will run over 20 pounds of boost and if you are only on it for short periods I think it would hold up. Maybe the whipple 2.9 is the best choice but those numbers are not much better than what I'm making either... KB says 1000whp on their 3.6. Plus barron seems to be more than willing to get into it himself if something goes wrong....

I vote for the 3.6KB. It will soon come in black or polished.
That'll be my next blower since the 3.3TVS probably won't be made now.

I've always had nitrous & blower cars, I love them both, they each have places they outshine the other. I've always wanted a twin turbo car, I hope it lives up to the hype I've always heard about & the hype in my head. Couple more days & I'll let you guys know.

The Whipple is and has proven itself to be the best S/C on the market when comparing it to something of similar size in terms of making power, heat and efficency. KB does make a much larger unit, which would be required for a HUGE power car but they make a ton of heat and are not packaged as nice.
We have tested the 2.3L .vs. 1.9 LSA unit and there is nothing to be impressed about. I will have to find the compressor maps and its quite shocking how inefficient the 2.3L becomes at higher boost levels. If you want stick around the 800RWHP mark you will be fine with the Whipple....anything more would require a KB, Centri, or turbo(s) |

It's funny to find this thread now. I'm in the process of deciding which to choose or just stay stock.
From what I've been finding out is the Wipple is great but doesn't make a kit for the ZL. I for one, don't want to use the main belt to also drive the blower and have all sorts of problems converting it over. KB has the LC case 2.8L which is supposed to fit without problems and the 3.6L which may have hood clearance issues at the front of the hood with the upper pulley. The price difference between them is minimal. The bigger question is the lag of a larger SC. As said before, there is a lot of mustang guys using both sizes and brands. I have heard of some problems, but lets face it, we always see problems here and there with any part when its pushed hard. |
