anyone here install their own LTs? Curious to know how hard it is to do yourself.

Shop wants $475 to install em and I just can't swing that.

Need replacement extensions too. Previous owner welded a wideband bung into one and the weld has a leak in it. plus they're 3" and I need 2.5".

Easy to do yourself. I did mine, but I have a lift. 475 seems really high. Check around in the other sections on here. Many have done it themselves. You'll either need HF Cats or off-road pipes.

came with offroad pipes but they are 3" and one has a bung welded into it that's leaking.

Can get new 2.5" pipes for $80 so that's not the end of the world.

No lift here. Very small garage with 9' ceilings.

if I keep the factory exhaust, do I need to cut it? or does it naturally break behind the stock cats? I see clamps there but not sure if they're hangers or just clamps.

If you get off-road pipes down to 2.5", they will hook right up to the stock exhaust with the existing clamp. There is no hanger in the front. Just two rubber hangers in the rear for each side. Many people have put them on themselves using jack stands.

Cool, I just wonder if I can do it alone by myself.

I figure, take the stock off, pull it out the engine bay (may have to drop the cats to do that)

assemble the LTs and extensions, insert into engine bay, leave unbolted from the engine, go under the car, insert extensions into stock tubes, leave unclamped, bolt up to the heads, tigthen those down, then tighten clamps.

Should take me 1-2 hours per side tops i'd think? I'd have to move the car to the belair side of the garage so I have access to both sides of the car and let it sit overnight.

If I get Jon's CAI and get a new filter for it (it's dirty and I suck at cleaning.. besides having 2 filters will minimize down time when they need to be cleaned again) and install that myself too, then have it tuned.. I should have the car running a lot better for a LOT less than $1100.

on second thought:

https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?...=1&output=html

maybe I'll pass on the intake. It's not worth it for 3.2WTQ to spend a penny.

I should stop struggling with trying to find a cheap way to get this car to stop being slow and just put up with it for a year or 2 so I can afford to do this correctly.

sell these headers, skip the intake, and deal with it. 4th gens are cheap and easy to work on.. 5ths? nope. I buit an entire ~400whp motor for less than the cost of headers+tune+intake that would put this car in the 350whp range.

Anyone wanna buy some headers?

I think I'm going to "resign" from the ace5 group yall. I joined to try to make friends but I haven't contributed a thing, haven't made any new friends but sure as heck have irritated yall with my incessant complaining. That's not what a car club is supposed to be about, and yall don't need people like me mucking things up.

It's no biggie you complain all the time, and yes you have tried to help! 1 by offering me a bolt or 2 for changing my oil pump! Just be yourself and think positive thoughts! Lol!!! It might be awhile before I can make another meet, unless y'all don't mind us coming in a beat up mustang!
