I would consider paying to upgrade depending on how much it was. I know a key shouldn't be such a big deal, but I'm really not thrilled about downgrading my car for a questionable fix to a problem I don't even have. I can't contact the key with my leg even when I try to.

Put me down for one though, it's also fun to push a button and get a quick response, hehe

Depending on price I would be interested as long as GM does not try and turn this issue into a money grab. GM should pay for labor to install, I would pay GM wholesale for part (s).

I might choose the push button depending on the cost, hell it should already be in them, my 2012 cruze had push button.

I'd take a push button any day but won't pay. They should pay me for lost time and wages for taking the time to drop car off. Maybe some kind of refund to the down graded key. The new key is a cheap fix for them. Hope my knees dont grow.

I see a LOT of back and fourth talk about this "FIX" but no a SINGLE picture of the ACTUAL FIX or the KEY itself.

Is it confirmed FOR SURE that they're taking our switchblades and replacing it with a regular, non-flip key? OR will they put a PUSH START where our key currently goes?

I havent found any confirmation of this.

The push button start was introduced in the Corvette in 2005. It's a complex set up and would probably cost thousands to install in Camaro. There are several receivers in the Corvette to pick up the FOB signal to allow the car to start. If the FOB battery weakens or dies for my '09 Vette, there is a slot provided in the glove box to insert the FOB and then the car will start even with a dead FOB battery.
It would be great for many, including myself, to have push button start in Camaro but I don't see GM even entertaining this idea due to the cost and labor involved.

The issue, which may primarily affect drivers sitting close to the steering column, was discovered by GM during internal testing following its recall of 2.6 million older small cars earlier this year for a faulty ignition switch linked to more than 50 crashes and at least 13 deaths.

But GM said the Camaro problem is unrelated to the ignition system used in Chevrolet Cobalts and other small cars included in the ignition-switch recall. Unlike the ignition in the older cars, the Camaro system meets all GM engineering specifications, the automaker said.

GM said it knows of three crashes “that resulted in four minor injuries” that it believes may be linked to the Camaro key fob.

The automaker will fix the problem by changing the Camaro key to a standard design from one in which the key is concealed in the fob and is opened by pushing a button.
