I bought a Stant 11504 and put it on my 2012 Camaro 2LT/RS.
Works great and no check engine lights. Feels pretty decently built. |

Locking Gascap at Advanced Auto Parts
I found a locking gas cap (not fuel door) for my 2011 SS at Advanced Auto Parts. It was in stock at my nearest store. AAP part number 10504. Made by Stant. I hope this helps.

Necro-posting again.
Just installed CARQUEST 10504 on 2011 SS. About $17 from Advance Auto. Comes with two keys. Drove about 30 miles. No alerts or codes. No groove to attach cap lanyard. Will look at whether lanyard can be removed from filler-port area by non-destructive method. |

OK, so it was an easy fix to figure out how to get the plastic lanyard for the factory cap free from the portal.
Basically, you need to fashion some sort of stiff piece of wire. A bent, large-gauge nail with the tip filed to appropriate shape should work. I happened to have some sort of mystery hook-tool that I found under the seat of my third-gen Camaro, so I used it. Use the tip of your tool to apply pressure to the back-side of the stud that holds the lanyard onto the fuel door. Press carefully, while pulling gently from the opposite side. If the stud acts like it doesn't want to push through, consider applying some heat with a hair dryer to soften the plastic and/or use some silicone spray to make it slide through without galling or tearing. The male portion of the lanyard mount will just pop out. The female portion of the mount will remaion in place without any signs that it will fall out if just left there. |

The Locking GM one was my first choice. No need to carry other keys around either since it uses the factory key.
My DIY is busted right now thanks to photobucket, otherwise I would link it again here. |

I too am running the Stant 10504.
Not a single issue. I just hate that it doesn't allow use of the plastic lanyard type thing.

And for you ""sugar in the gas tank" guys, try this: Put some sugar in a small jar of gasoline and see what happens. Nothing !

But they use the factory key. My DIY is busted right now but it is under "coding your GM gas cap" or something like that. I'm sure the prices will drop eventually. |
