WAIT TIME

I am wondering how long it took for GM to order, manufacture and deliver your cars. Please post general idea of time-frame from start to finish. I'm trying to figure out how long I will have to save for my down payment.

I think the average time is about 6 - 8 weeks. And that's a lot of saving in two months. You better get started.

Took 5 weeks to get mine built and to be delivered to me at the dealer. Usually its 6 to 8 weeks but it can happen faster....

Five weeks plus one day to go from signing on the dotted line to being handed the keys to my brand-new Camaro - and that was in Sept. '09, when some people here who ordered weeks ahead of me were still waiting on their cars to be delivered, too!

Unless you make enough money to make buying a Corvette Z06 practical or you have access to a stash of money somewhere, I sure hope you 've already saved up most of what you need.

Just under 4 weeks from the day I placed my order to when I picked mine up. If you are ordering a vert it could take longer.

Not sure about the logic here. If I'm not mistaken the Z06 runs upwards of 75k... Are you saying that in order to afford a 35000 camaro you should be able to afford a 75000 vette as well? Maybe I misunderstood your point?

Either way, OP, good luck with your purchase, and nice color choice.

If he hasn't started saving for it yet (his post is ambiguous on that), he's going to need the kind of income to put together a decent downpayment in the timesframe of two or three paychecks. Or pay a pretty big monthly payment on it.

That makes much more sense. Thanks for clarifying

Definitely not easy to come up with that much coin for the average joe on a 3 week notice. Hope it works out well for you OP.

Go here ^^^^^^^^^

That is a link to the LS3/L99 a.k.a. SS/V8 Bolt ons, (headers, aftermarket exhaust/cai) section of these forums.

You will find EVERYTHING you need to know and more in this section.

As for this particular question; are shorties o.k. or should you opt for LT's....
We can't really answer that without knowing a lot more about what your plans are for the car. Do you plan on getting a tune? Are you looking for a HP gain, or better sound? Both? How concerned are you with keeping your warranty? (If I'm not mistaken, LT's require a tune to run optimally, this requires you to alter your ECM, which as a side effect *COULD* void the powertrain warranty on your car.

IMHO, you have a few weeks to save up and do some planning. Check out some of the other sections on these forums. Jump over to the link I posted for you, then go check out the tuning and diagnostics forum, so that you can better familiarize yourself with how tuning will affect your car and your warranty. (again, pretty sure that's a necessity for LT's someone PLEASE correct me if I'm mistaken) Jump over to the tires and wheels section too while your at it. May as well get a rough idea about how much it will cost to replace those PZeros when they go bald.

In a nutshell, nobody is going to have a solid "you should or should not do that" answer for you that they can post up in one thread. Take a look around, grab a drink, kick back, and enjoy these forums. There is some SUPERB information in the other sections.

good luck. Just be glad you are ordering now and not 2 years ago. took mine 5 months! but I had plenty of time to sell my other car and not have to take a big hit on a trade-in.

i went through hell to receive my CGM. Booked and reserved my CGM on the 9th September 2009, received on 10th December 2009 = 3 Month wait!

I did physically Knock-Out the manager in his office with a straight punch to his jaw, and then was escorted out his office by 4 salesmen.

I just ordered an IBM 1SS RS on 3/29/11 to replace my CGM and was wondering how long does it take for them to start building the car.I checked with my order number and just get order placed.
