Eyeing these Camaro 5 gens
Ok,So I am the owner of a C5 Z06 corvette. (2001). Stock for the most part except a few things. I have only had it about a year. I came from a fully built singled 94 Toyota Supra.I love my vette, but something about the camaro 5 SS (with 1LE for the new ones) have really started to tug at me for some reason.I just recently had a daughter and can not drive the vette with my wife and daughter because, well she is just a couple months old, and there is no rear seat. With the camaro I like the idea of having a LS3 that makes more power than my current LS6 (though much heavier car), and the idea of having a backseat that I can drive this and fit baby in the back.I really like the 13/14s because of the 1LE package, but honestly im not a fan of the wrapped hood on cars where its real noticeable. The steering wheel looks hideous to me on the earlier ones. Are there are things I need to know or think about??

You can take the wrap off the hood if you get a 1LE, the hood is painted body color underneath.

With the passenger seat slid all the way forward, a rear facing infant seat and base fit in the back, not exactly roomy for the passenger, but its doable. My wife and 5mo old daughter and I have logged about 1800 miles in ours so far.
Once the kiddos can transition to a forward facing seat, there's plenty of room.

I had a new '06 C6 Corvette. I had it for less than a year and sold it. Just did not like the overall aura of the car for me. I have had five Corvettes, the C6 being the last one, and now three Camaros over many years. Like most everything, any car is somewhat of a compromise, especially a performance car.
My present '14 2SS LS3 is a very good car and I thoroughly enjoy driving it. It is definitely more practical than the C6. Definitely heavier, but I actually like the driving feel of the car. The interior of the '14 Camaro has been improved immensely compared the the '10 that I had, but it still needs a lot of upgrades to get it to a really good level. Hopefully you will have the chance to get a good long test drive in a new Camaro prior to purchasing so you can make an informed decision. Definitely get your wife involved in the process also. I have no regrets about getting my new one.

Beautiful Corvette!
I think that sounds like a great idea. I have two kids and they fit very well in my Camaro. They have the big, bulky car seats and I haven't had a single issue with them being uncomfortable. |

Thanks for the replies. What has improved interior wise? When did the steering wheels get updated? I really like the recaro option on the new ones but it wouldn't be a necessity.

There have been incremental improvements to the interiors of these cars pretty much from 2011 on. The dash inserts started appearing in 2012 I believe. Mylink showed up in 2013. The new steering wheel I believe is 2012+

I need to investigate more. Honestly, i like both bodies front and rear. The wrapped hood on the 1LE, meh. SS and RS would be must for HIDs and LS3 motor. 6spd manual would be a must.

Thanks...that would be the main reason...and the looks of the camaros are growing on me for some reason. I dont see many options for deep dish good looking wheels though. The ZL1 wheels look great from the factory though.

93CIVEJ1, since your family is starting to grow have you considered the New "SS" sedan? It's a family car with the LS3 engine.
