It's a crate engine. Anyone with a brain and enough money can do the swap. It's not like the LS9 is an exclusive engine for Hennessey.

I gotta absolutely agree with you...............it's absurd. Cool looking car, but $110,000?? Ridiculous.

I saw the picture of the car on the main page here and my first thought was, "hey Jinx changed the fog lights from square to round, I wonder why he did that." That car looks EXACTLY like Jinx's. Hennessey is a spook!

Well if you add up the costs, 30K for an SS, 12K for brakes and ....

For release: Dec. 11, 2008, 10 a.m. ET

GM PERFORMANCE PARTS ANNOUNCES IMMEDIATE AVAILABILITY AND PRICING FOR LS9 CRATE ENGINE

GRAND BLANC, Mich. – GM Performance Parts (GMPP) announced today that the new LS9 crate engine is available for immediate ordering – earlier than previously announced. It will carry a MSRP of $35,715.

.... you can see how you end up at 110K. Don't get me wrong, he is still going to make some money on this, but you can see how the costs start to mount up.

this car costs from 26000 to 45000 at best , why make one that cost 110000? buy a ferrari and you'll get the aerodynamics too.

it feels like a pimp my ride show done on perfectly good new car.

Can you guys honestly not see the market niche for this car. Some people have boat loads more money than they need and don't want to take the time or have the knowledge to build a car like this themselves. They want a turn-key car with a warranty and exclusivity. Not everyone wants a Ferrari, or maybe they already have a Ferrari? Of course you can build this car for less, but that's not the point. Is it a good value? No way, but if money was no object, I'd buy it. And why can't I get excited about the fact that this car will be available even though I can't afford it. A ZR1 inspired ultra Camaro, hell yeah!!!

Well put JJ and the one thing you forgot to mention is time. Most people who have this kind of money do because they are working hard for it. It seems IMO that you usually have one or the other (money or time) but not both (unless you win the lottery).

Good point, and those HRE wheels are at least another 5K I'm sure. Maybe it's a better value than we originally thought. I had no idea the LS9 itself costs that much! This car is definitely not meant for the common man.

I like the carbon fiber body parts.
But I wouldn't trust Hennessey with my money. I remember the whole thing where he pissed off a bunch of viper owners by keeping their cars, stripping it, and selling parts.

Well said. Hmmmm...I guess I'm wondering why we didn't see similar points-of-view being expressed when about the GT500KR when in was announced for production? All I ever heard was that $80,000K was too much for any Mustang even though that car, like the Hennessey Camaro, was never intended to be priced/marketed to what some in this thread have called the "common" man.
