Dealer installed front plate mounts

Man i hate seeing these cars with a front licences plate mount screwed on by the dealer, for a 60k car it really should be the customer's choice before they go drilling into a brand new ZL1. Was bidding on:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2012-...ht_3289wt_1008

But don't think i want my new zl1 with dealer installed holes on the front bumper ><. GM really should tell their dealerships to let the customer choose this, not to mention its not even technically illegal in Texas ><.

Actually it is. I've gotten a ticket for no front plate. the judge dropped it once I showed proof that it was mounted to the car. Houston police seem to be a little lenient about it if you're not breaking any other traffic laws but DPS troopers aren't.

It's the law in Colorado too, some officers don't enforce it much, I got a ticket for no front plate with my 2010 Camaro SS. considering it was a whopping $25, most people here just pay the tickets and never bother installing a front plate. I ended up putting the plate on cause I didn't want even more of a reason for them to pull me over. I'd say most all of the nicer cars I see around here don't have a front plate.

Well texas is pretty big and everyone loves their cars around here, though up until recently it used to be a law, though even if it was a ticket i'd still pay it to not have my zl1 defaced like that.

Yes, I Too Hate That Ugly Front Plate Mount - Dealer Had Put It On In P-D-I And It Was Too Late When I got There - So, Guess I'm Stuck With It

You could register it in FL, where no front plate is required, and there are no motor vehicle inspections. FL is great. You wanna take off your cats and run headers and side pipes, go ahead, you'll never fail an inspection hahaha!!!

Yeah, love no emissions states. That was definately a plus when I was living in Nebraska. But they were very strict about front plates.

I'm sure they were just abiding by the law. In California I had to sign a waiver from the dealership saying I would install the plate myself to cover their liability.

yes i too think the front plates suck! what purpose do they serve? if they are so damn critical then why are motorcycles not made to have them? I have already instructed my deal DO NOT put on front plate. I am suppose to have a front plate here in the great state of WY, but i will figure somthing out.

Front Plate

You would be shocked if you would run that on a road course the effect it would have. It also blocks some of the air way for inte cool. I know some states say you have to have them but not here in Louisiana. Maybe being its up for bid they should wait till that time or let the buyer install. It's just another way for states to make off of us. Please dealers lets not see this anymore just hold off, theirs no law that says it has to be installed soon as it hits the lot at least I don't think so.

Watch Your Dealer Closely - I Too Repeatly Told Them "No Front Plate Bracket" - When I Came To Pick Her Up After P-D-I, There It Was - It's Bolted To The Front Facia So The Holes Are Aready There - Too Late For Me
