Tinted Windows?

So who's getting their Camaro windows tinted?

I'm thinking about it but Michigan has some strict laws regarding the darkness of the tint....

The backseat windows have a thick black band around the window...almost seems like you don't have to tint that one...but I probably would.

Also, I've never got a tint job before. How much does it cost and how does it look? Is it worth it?

I'm in Maryland and they have pretty strict limits too. I think it is 35%. You have to be carefull; the windows have a little tint from the factory. Which means I have to get 30% film to not go over the limit. I really miss the dark tint I had in Florida on my LeSabre. When I moved to MD, I had to have it removed to pass the state inspection, which cost more then having it installed.

The dealer I'm buying from is going to tint the windows the legal max before it rolls off the lot. I believe the max in Texas is 25% for side windows, and there's no limit for the rear window.

I'm definitely tinting, it will add to the mean look of the car. I have 35% on my current camaro and I wish I went darker. I'm going 20% with the new one. I'll take my chances on getting a ticket.

Yes, I will be putting 30% tinting on. Legal is 35%, with +/- 3% varience. The DMV does not check for compliance during inspections and the MO State Police are the only ones enforcing it right now. There are several reasons to tint (IMHO):

- looks cool
- protects interior surfaces
- privacy from other drivers when you feel like picking your nose (haha)
- reduces interior glare
- provides some thermal insulation and protection from sun

I'm sure there are other reasons why you might...and I'm sure there are reasons not too.

Regardless, make sure you go to someone reputable. I good tint job may cost a bit more, but you'll be happier with the finished work and avoid peeling, bubbles, etc.... You may also want to get several "bids" to make sure you are getting a good price.

35% here in Hawai'i, will be doing that the first day I get the car, ceramic tint, looks darker. I don't want to pay $250 per window if I get caught with a darker tint. I can think of better things to do with 1,250 than use it to pay a fine.

shoot i wish our leagal was 35% CA in the front its like 75% i think.. so pretty much no tint rear though i believe we can tint as dark as we want. But i sit in the fron and that is where i get blasted by all those damn sun rays. So i have had my last 4 cars with 30% or darker all around so i will stick to it

Tint film can be removed with a hair dryer. Heat will make it come loose.
The only car I ever tinted was what ever legal dark was in Indiana. Now, this many not be true for all but that was the last one. Nice in the sun but very limited vision at night, especially in really dark areas. Also, radar detector did not pick up well through back window.
