Because the ATS-V has a 6-speed manual.

7 speed does not fit according to an engineer at the reveal today...

I'm sure they could've made it fit, considering it's an all new chassis and they did a lot of custom work just for the 6th gen...but the gear ratios seem alright, .5 in 6th, should be pretty good for highway gas mileage (I know we don't buy these cars for gas mileage, but you don't want to burn all your gas on the way to the race, do you?)
