Royal Purple. You can actually feel an increase in power (compression). I kid you not.

And, it seems to hold viscosity better. When I ran Mobil1, and it started breaking down (heat), you could see the oil pressure guage fluctuate up and down, as if it was running water instead of oil.

With the Purple in the pan, pressure stays solid. so does the power. It ran so hard after changing to Purple that I actually tweaked my rear diff when throttle-shifting at max torque.

I ran Mobil1 for years before that, and it always "floated" at high RPM. With the Purple, it just kept digging (until I broke something, LOL) -- and that was with an AUTO!!!

If I were running a 6-speed, there would have been broken bits spread all over the road as I spun out from losing control.

Whew.

Anyways, I'm sure mechanical engineers can chime in on the specs of each, but I trust and will stay with Purple.

Oil is designed to reduce friction. They all have their own mix, but as long as it meets spec. it's good. Most important thing is change it before it breaks down.

"We use Mobil1..Why? Because they paid us the most money to say that!"

If an oil is new and improved, does that mean previously it was old and crappy?

I buy mine from O'Reilly's. 4 quarts (soon to be 7) of 5W-30 every 5,000 miles, and a 4 dollar microguard filter. I tried K&N filters for a while but they didn't seem any better than the microguard, so I switched back.

i've got Mobil1 10W-40 & Wix filter in the truck now & have no complaints, but i think i'm gonna go back to dino juice because i didn't really see that much of an improvement other than being able to go 10000mi on this change. for conventional, i usually use Valvoline 10W-40
