Oil changes on FI cars
Just curious as to how often everyone is changing their oil (crankcase oil) on supercharged cars. I was thinking 3-4k since the engine is taking more of a beating.

Probably along the right lines of thinking since the OLM is programed with stock parameters but I change mine at 5000 miles or 50% anyway.

Once a year. lol. ~3k miles. My DIC says 82% life remaining since the spring when I changed it last.

man...I don't treat it any different than NA...but, I check the dipstick for color and or fuel smell just as a precautionary. But if nothing else, every 6 months because I don't see the mileage on the car since it isn't my primary driver. If I make 3 trips to the races with it, it is probably close to ready to change. I check my catch cans after a trip to the track also.

With more power comes the need for reducing the maintenance intervals . I don't see a down side to this approach other than the added expense. However, engines cost a pretty penny as well. My engine shop says every 3K. It's a sporty 3K also.

Got it. Think I will go with that. Mine sits more than I drive it, so I may even change it sooner. Better safe than sorry. Like was said, an oil change is cheaper than an engine. As the saying goes, "you gotta pay to play".

I let mine go 3k because every time I start it, it's at least a 50 mile cruise. If it were short trips twice a year or 1500 miles would do it.

3k or every 3 months just because it starts to break down, no need in hurting a engine over a oil change.

Max miles for me is 2500, or every racing event...

What oil does everyone use? I found a few posts from ADM recommending 15w50

I use the factory recommended in Mobil 1. Don't know if I should be using anything else. Good question tho!

I ran Red Line 5w 30 this year, prob Penz Ultra when I change it soon. 5w-30 on stock internals IMO. I do run a 160* stat tho to help keep the temps in the 180* range.

I too run Mobil 1 5w30. I will be adding a zinc additive after my cam swap.

Was thinking about a 160. Does it really help?
