I made a little conduit from the passenger side visor light; all the tools needed to do this are included with the V1, and it is pretty simple to do, too.

I used a V1 previously and have the Passport 9500 ix now.

I like the 9500 ix with built in GPS and ability to download known speed traps, cameras, etc.

However I must say I prefer the V1 because the dual antenna system and directional arrows telling you where the threat is originating from. I found this much more useful in getting to know the detector and determine real threats and adjust reactions.

In the 9500 ix I often am alerted to threats I never see. In the V1, you know where to look, and how to react.

My V1 is several generations old, and I am considering sending it back for upgrade. We will see. For now I use the 9500 ix mounted under rear view mirror with a permanent cord. Here is a picture, it looks almost built-in.

SIG,Is there some existing attachement points on the vert to mount the detector without having to drill or is there velcro or some other non-evasive means of attachement/

I like my V1. I tried out the IQ but didn't care for it. (Then got the V1.) I don't think the Nav functions on the IQ are very good and I'm not sure its radar detection is very good either.
The V1 is nice because I know where to look when it goes off and I can usually find the source, be it a Walgreens or a cop. Plus it was easy to wire in my SS. I'm assuming it will be in my ZL-1 too.

Visor light? Is this a 2013 thing or ZL1 thing?

I just got the rscort 9500ix, digging the gps and learning the false alerts as I drive the same route everyday. I hardwired it to my mirror and bout a $8 mount from ebay that uses 3m tape.

From the outside you can't see the detector as it sits behind my camaro windshield sticker

I'm not a fan of window or visor mounts, do the remote mount units work as well as these?

They can't work as well because their antennas are lower. The higher the antenna, the more gain the have.

I've had the Valentine One for a couple months now and it's absolutely hands down the best Radar detector I've ever owned.. Saved me countless times.

I bought the escort 9500ix. Using "blendmount" to mount it under my rearview mirror. Works great for me. I love the GPS function to silence false alerts. Also, have hooked it to my PC for software updates. The unit gives me alerts well ahead of speed traps.
