How much boost should this kit make out of box? I just installed mine and my tuner claims it to be making nearly 14psi and he's worried I'll blow my intake manifold.

Sounds like the restrictor is missing.

Seriously, I think he has watched one to many fast and the furious movies. Blowing the welds on your intake manifold is the least of your worries over boosting like that. Now the mad scientist got to rip apart the block... and replace the piston rings you fried.

Your tuner isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, which should tell you to find a new one. Without the restrictor, the kit can make 15 lbs. If you have nothing else done to the car other than the kit, then you should have the restrictor on which will give you about 9-10 lbs. And unless you're running a FAST intake, there's nothing to blow on it. I'm pushing 20+ lbs through the stock manifold. Seriously, you should find a new tuner because it sounds like he's never done one of these kits before.

When you do the clutch, look into getting a clutch reservoir. Without it, you'll be having the clutch pedal sticking to the floor.

A restrictor plate came with the kit and I put it in. The tuner thought ECS sent the wrong one so they were sending out the right one. I pulled the old one out and compared the two. The new one's hole is only about 1/8" smaller than the old.

As long as nothing is going to break I'll probably look for a new tuner, just so few american muscle tuners near me.

I just had them do the washer bottle mount. Still can put a small bottle in for the actual washer bottle and have it to clean the windshield.

Lol @ your tuner.

Bring your car to Slowhawk Performance in MA if you want it done right. This way you don't need to constantly worry about your car blowing up which it might. Dons a 2 hour ride. Well worth it.

ecs supercharger

So I decided to do a little work on the car. I removed the stock air filter tab, primed, and painted it. I also removed the idler pulley dust shield and removed the tabs on it. I will finish painting it and call her a day. HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Take it to Slowhawk in MA and get it fixed and tuned correctly. You are on borrowed time even if you put the right size restrictor in.

Car is an L99 with factory cats.
ECS kit customer installed.
Car was brought to me for a dyno tune, I found that it had too much boost and informed the customer.
There was never any mention of blowing the intake.
Rev limiter was lowered and tuned to be plenty safe to drive normally.
I contacted ECS and they sent a new restrictor right away.
The restrictor is installed the car will be retuned on lower boost.

Ted.

1/8" equals only about 1lb of boost. I opened up mine with a grinder 1/8" and it gained about a pound.

Car had 13 psi not 14

What was yours?

This is a really good supercharger and when it is cold it moves a lot of air.

Temps were in the 30s
