Question questions about the blank check loan...

ok...well i wanna get a jump on finding a loan being my car should be here in a month...i was just wondering what info do you need to bring with you when you go apply for the loan? i have peope telling me that you cant get a loan for a car until you have the car, which i know is not true since so many of you guys on the forum have done it...also, (and this is the tricky part) my co-signer(my grandfather) lives in florida and i live in new york...any1 know how this would work out? maybe getting the papers signed by him and notarized at a bank by him then mailed back down here?

thx in advance...

I use Navy Federal with a preapproved check up to whatever amount you ask for. I had my wife cosign on on one of the loans. I just had her sign on the back of the check where it said for the cosignor to sign. Then, I took the check to the dealer and signed my signature as member/borrower once the check was filled in. The car was registered in just my name. You might want to check with your bank to make sure it is OK with them, but that is how I did it.

I went through Capital One online. Very quick and easy. Took out a 72 month loan on $22,000, $356/month @ 5.20%.

I did Cap One as well even though I didn't use it. 48 months at 4.89. Agreed, it was quick and easy.

you can do an application anytime and get approved. They will just need your personal information, they might ask if you have VIN which you wont, then just put down the car type. Enter your Co-signers information. The signature thing isnt a big deal, if you start now you will be fine. The bank will send you the info, then you send it to your grandfather, so you will have lag time for the mail but if you start now you will be fine.

With penfed you can do it all online for the application. Just have him on the phone to get all his info. Check is good for 90 days so you can do it now and have the check in 3-4 days. We did a joint app but only my wifes name was on the check. She signed it for me but my name is the only one one the car. I was filling out the promissary note yesterday and realized it had a mistake in the vin. They are sending new paperwork. In the meantime I'm cruising in my car
