Squash return-style fuel pump
Hey guys,
I'd really like to wait for Squash to (finally) release their "returnless" style fuel pump, but in case they don't release it sometime this winter (while my car is in storage), I need to be prepared to pull the trigger on their return-style system. I would like to know how difficult and what is involved in installing this system? I currently have the ZL1 pump and ADM FPCM set up and it is working flawlessly. I want to upgrade to E85 though. I'm trying to hang tight for the returnless pump as install will be MUCH easier, but Lord knows if it will ever come out? I really like Squash but it has been impossible to get any updates from them. Any advice. Thanks! |

It makes sense to run a return style system in high HP set ups. Most people run the stock line as the return and add a thicker gauge main line and larger fuel rails which helps support the pressure needed for a high HP system. Yes it adds to the install time but it's not over complicated. We are also a new dealer for Squash and should have our site updated to show their products.

Ok, thanks. I'm not sure if my car will qualify as a "high HP" set up, but I am currently around 550 rwhp with my Magnacharger on 9.5-10 psi (L99). Best run at the track is 11.08 at 124 mph. Looking to add the E85 and possibly add a little more boost and be content to live there for a while. Not interested in forging my motor as this is still my DD. Just looking to get her into the upper 10's and have fun at that power level. How long to you figure install is for a return-style Squash system?

I have been waiting on the returnless kit too. I started that thread on it like 2 years ago. I have a cam kit waiting to install and want to pull my restrictor plate out just need a fuel system to support it.

Sorry to hear that man. I haven't been waiting quite that long. I heard about it 6+ months ago and have wanted it ever since. I spoke with Andy at Squash this summer and he was "hoping" to release it sometime in late October? Sounds like he was having some issues with suppliers. Seemed like a cool guy and he was as anxious as any of us to finally release it. Some things might be out of his control? He said that he wouldn't release it until it was 100% ready, which I appreciate. Even though I'm getting anxious.

That's awesome. Thanks for the update. I can wait until March, so that should give him plenty of time. C'mon Andy! We're counting on you.

I was holding out all year and finally gave up and I'm currently installing mine. I shouldn't have waited, adding the pressure regulator and a return line was a lot easier that I expected.

Guys, if I have an access panel that I made (under the back seat) when I installed my ZL1 fuel pump, will I still need to drop the tank to install the Squash return-style pump? Sounds like some are running a very short "return line" and putting the pressure gauge right in front of the fuel tank. I'm just curious as the install time of this system is what has me waiting for the returnless system as much as anything. Plus, I will probably end up with around 600 rwhp after E85 and the return-style system could be a bit overkill for my car? Thoughts.

I did the install myself in the driveway. I also made an access panel. You'll still need to drop the tank at least a bit if it's even possible to avoid dropping the whole tank. You need to make room for the fittings and hoses so you'll have to add the spacers which is why you need to drop the tank a bit. I honestly think dropping the tank will save time and a headache overall.
I tried waiting for the return less but after a month of its supposed first release I gave up and I'm glad I did. |
