Installed my Hurst shifter!!! - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

So I installed my hurst shifter over the weekend. I had purchased it before hearing about all the "issues" going on with it from members on here. I was worried about the grinding, vibration, or just noise in general that I heard about with the Hurst. I had a Pro 5.0 on my 4th gen SS and it made quite a bit of noise that was more than annoying.

Well I just want to say, I'm glad I installed it anyway because it does NOT make one single sound out at all!!

I don't have any vibration in any gear, whether my hand is resting on the shifter or not. I put the Hurst stick and white knob on, and it looks gorgeous!! I turned my radio down and put the windows up (my exhaust isn't even very loud) and I didn't hear any noise whatsoever. I hear that Hurst is offering shims or something now to reduce vibration, this kit was made well before that was in place, and I didn't modify anything when installing it. I am so happy with this thing!! It shifts hard but very crisp and the throw is sooooo short now! All I can say is Hurst did a great job on this thing!! Thank you Hurst!!!

Yup, love mine! No issues with any vibration, noise, etc. It has a mechanical "click" as is goes into gears which I like

Very interested in your shifter.
I ordered my 2SS couple of weeks ago.
I live in the OC (Anaheim Hills), wonder if I can check yours out in person..???

Absolutely, I'm in Anaheim, near Disneyland. What color is your Camaro? Just curious if I've seen you driving around anywhere!

Glad to see other people saying they haven't had any issues, cuz for a while it looked like more people were having problems than not!

Just got mine today!!!! Sadly, cant install untill spring....car is "in the bag" in storage.

The shifter is awesome. But the rattle issue does exist but not on all. Some cars just happen to have more play in the tranny linkage from the factory (not the hurst shifter) than others and that is where the problem originates and transfers through to the shifter.

Installed mine hurst two days ago and I love it! No noise no problems except the mechanical click from gear to gear which I like too.

Is there a vid of this shifter? I'd like to see it in action either just changing them in the driveway, or out on the open road. I'm thinking about getting one for mine. I'd like to actually see the throw difference.
